Each February the highest village on Exmoor, Wheddon Cross, plays host to hundred of visitors here to enjoy a walk through Snowdrop Valley. The Avill Valley is covered in snowdrops and a short walk by the stream shows them at their best. The narrow roads into the valley can't cope with the volume of cars full of people wanting to enjoy the scene, so a Park & Ride scheme has been in operation for several years. Buses leave the car park at regular intervals for those who prefer not to walk down into the valley (or back up again).

The Rest & Be Thankful pub, local tea shops and the villagers in the Moorland Hall provide welcome refrehments after a bracing winter walk.
